About Us

Our History in the US

The Congregation has a rich, 134-year tradition of serving God through service to families.  Founded in Rome in 1875 by Blessed Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd (Frances Siedliska), the Congregation arrived in the States in 1885, where the sisters have ministered to families through education, health care and family services.  In recent decades, those ministries have expanded to include spirituality/retreat ministry, parish ministry, prison ministry, youth ministry and work with the poor in non-traditional settings.

Internationally, the Congregation has sisters serving in Italy, Poland, England, France, Israel, Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Australia and the Philippines.  The Congregation's newest ministry is in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
